Kobudo

This weekend our karateclub had invited Shihan Kåre Haugland to come to Kirkenes and show us how to twirl the bo-staff. Let's get to the point: it was a huge success!

All 36 participants and mr. Haugland all agreed that this was great fun and that we should do it again - soon! We went through two different katas. The first one was made of over thirty steps and looked alot like sparring. The other one is called Su shi no kun sho. I think most people found it easier than the first one, and also more, well, beautiful.

Most people attended class with a broomstick in their hand. Obviously, they mastered the basics pretty quicly. Shihan gave me a proper bo made of oak. It was heavy! Wish I had a broomstick too:(
The pick on the left shows me desperately avoiding being hit over the head, and at that time I was greatful my bo was solid oak...

Norway`s got talent
If you want to get off my naughty-list (yes, you are guilty until proven othervise), you had better tune in to TV2`s "Norway`s got talent" on friday 18.th.
It is time for the extremely tv-friendly mr. Narve Læret to make an appearance again! And he is not alone. His son, Christopher, is also participating alongside in a spectacular show of pyrotechnics and stonebreaking. So charge up your mobile phone and get ready to vote your thumbs off :-D
The talent show comprises of a variety of people; village idiots who has escaped the asylum, people who make music on rubber gloves (I like rubber gloves) and, well, really talented people.
Please, please, don`t let yet another singer steal off with the 1.st price. We have ...Idol for that! Vote for Læret and junior, true talent!

There and back again
No, this is not a nerdy piece on LOTR and Bilbo and Frodos book:-(
Two weeks ago I went to the annual county martial arts council. This time was even better than last year (see "keep your distance"-post). We closed down!
So if you are a karate-ka or Tae Kwon Do artist who live in Finnmark county and would like an education to become a coach, the solution is simple;
Travel 2900 kilometers to the city of Tromsø!
